Sometimes babies die in spite of our best intentions.
There are rare occasions in a pregnancy where the mother’s life is at risk. In these life threatening situations I already guarantee the primacy of protecting the mother’s life, while also doing the best possible for the baby’s life. I help doctors keep the balance by seeing the situation as a two-patient model.
While everything is done to save the baby, necessary medical treatment may lead to the death of the unborn baby. This is not an abortion but an un-intended consequence of essential treatment to save the life of a pregnant woman. Abortion is the direct and deliberate taking of the unborn child’s life.
As a result of our two-patient model, our maternal practice is, by necessity, more advanced than abortion cultures where doctors have no difficulty in aborting at the first sign of a problem.
We're already doing the best for mothers and babies, stand with me and #protectthe8th
